THE WORD

Sue O’Donnell. 13.12.20

“Jesus is the Word ...In Jesus, in His Word, was the life that brought God’s light into people’s lives.” (John 1 v 4 The Truth)

We approach a real celebration,

The Light of Christ Jesus

Coming into our world, each nation, darkened by us, sadly,

Our wrong thinking, wrong reasoning,

Wrong decisions, wrong actions,

All leading to unholy chaos.

Jesus comes as an answer to this.

For He is God’s Word of promise,

Promise to help us live more wisely,

Honourably, an upright and decent existence.

“The Light came and shone into the spiritual darkness of the world; but the darkness did not want the Light, so did not receive Him.” (John 1 v 5 The Truth)

The Lord Jesus models decency for us.

His is the way to live.

His is the truth to live by.

He shows the Father’s love to us.

A love which helps and heals us of waywardness.

We become holy entirely by love.

The love of the Lord Jesus evident to us,

This is to become the everyday,

The way we live to give glory to God.

“Jesus Himself was the true Light, able to give spiritual light and understanding to all men, and He was coming into the world.” (John 1 v 9 The Truth)

“So Jesus came from Heaven into the world, and although the world was created through Him, people did not recognise who He was when He came.” (John 1 v 11 The Truth)

People still do not recognise the relevance and importance of our Saviour Brother, unless they pray and seek the instruction of the Holy Spirit, He who works in wisdom according to the truth the Lord Jesus wishes to reveal to us.

Lord God, our Father, we need Your help! We need please, the inspiration of the Holy Spirit impacting upon us as revealing of the truth as to who Jesus is and all He accomplishes for us.

Only by living in the friendship of Jesus will we be assured of that loving care You offer to guide us and safeguard us by Your Spirit. Thank You for this loving help. May we not ignore it nor abandon it.

Help us please, to judge wisely the things of earth, whilst also looking to our hope of heaven, that hope born in us with the arrival of the Lord Jesus at Christmas. When His light of love is shining according to the Spirit, we are kept in the power of holy love.

The Holy Spirit has made us Your children in the living Word which is our Saviour, our Brother and our Master. May our wilful sinning not happen, for this severs us from You, dearest Father.

May the living presence of Your Word, the example of the Lord Jesus’ love, make holy love the foundation of our every days’ decision and action. We must remain open to the Spirit for this.

We hurry towards Christmas. May the promise and hope of such a blessed season guide our way, by living fully in the love of Jesus, heeding all the Spirit’s warning if we are straying.

May the Spirit of insight and truth possess us entirely, so we live according to the law of love which results in holiness. May the love of Jesus be our wisdom and strength, resolve and commitment, decision and dedication, conforming us to a better likeness to His image.

I ask for Jesus’ loving presence to be visibly, audibly present amongst us as we heed the Holy Spirit, welcoming His influence. May the Spirit remind us that Father God, You always work for the good of

mankind.

I ask for the Spirit to help us find healing in Jesus of all fear, doubt, insecurity, inability to pray, trust and depend upon the Trinity. Please may any of our indifference be forgiven and forgotten as the Spirit

undertakes the work of restoration.

We are to be led in the love of Jesus, to live in this, to promote this, to benefit from this so as to bless others.

May the power of holy love mend the damage sin does inflict upon us, whatever, whoever is the cause.

To know we are held safe in true love, this is our hope, our peace and a real joy, thank You. Thank You that Christmas is coming for this means the Lord Jesus is coming into our world to obliterate sins’ darkness.

“Do good, ‘O LORD, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts,” (Psalm 125 v 4) for then the world should see the Lord Jesus alive and active in us by the Holy Spirit.

Let the Word of life be known to us, then shown by us in all wisdom and truth. “For we already live in Christ and will continue to do so, if we remain confident in the faith we had at the beginning of our relationship with Him, until we have reached the conclusion of His purposes.” (Colossians 2 v 6)

This conclusion must be our daily resolve and expressed intention as the Word was born for this purpose.

“Faith in the truth can only come when we have heard the truth, and that truth is contained in the words of Christ.” (based on Romans 10 v 17 The Truth)

May we ever be truly grateful for our faith in Jesus, our life reforming friendship, our hope, our peace and our joy in a renewed friendship with all Three Persons of the holy Trinity.

“Save us, God our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name, and may glory in praising You. Blessed be God, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, ‘Amen.’ “ (Psalm 106 v 47, 48 TNJB)
